I wrote Breaking Dawn - Akatsuki with a mix of black and golden ink, trying to balance the darkness and the brightness.
Akatsuki means dawn, but that brief daybreak moment when night is just about to give way to day.
The kanji akatsuki, in Japanese, also conveys a good auspiciousness for future positive outcomes. In the language it replaces the word "if" to underline the happiness that a particular outcome would bring.
The kanji is written on a thin, finely decorated traditional Japanese shikishi (please zoom into the picture to notice the subtle color ranges and the delicate details carved in the paper).
The art is framed within a hard-paper foldable hanging scroll.
