Love & Generosity is one of my first works of this kind.
The paper I used is a traditional shikishi of a soft-pink color.
The calligraphy is in the gyosho style, but with variations that match the forms of the hydrangeas on the paper itself.
The flowers are real dry hydrangeas of two kinds: pink and white.
Pink hydrangeas represent profound love and care (like a mother to a child); white hydrangeas represent tolerance and generosity.
I decided to experiment with a union of traditional shodo and floral decorations to give literal three-dimensionality to Love & Generosity - Ajisai
