Sakura in the Wind

Sakura in the Wind is an experimental work incorporating traditional Japanese calligraphy and other visual arts.

The style I used is sousho, an old Japanese writing style. The kanji reads "sakura" (cherry) and it extends to turn into the branches of a cherry tree.

For the darker part I used a diluted black sumi, and for the petals I used water color.

The paper is a type of Japanese paper with fibers treated to reflect light and look shiny. The paper is hardened and it's possible to use it for prints (the original work is fully handmade).
